Welcome to the Manchester Thermal Analyzer

Introduction

The Manchester Thermal Analyzer (MTA) is a thermal simulator for integrated circuits (ICs) based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). It performs fast and accurate thermal analysis of ICs both at the floorplan and cell level. The simulator utilizes numerical methods which are unconditionally stable guaranteeing convergence of the solution for the heat equation.

The simulator performs both steady-state and transient thermal analysis where spatiotemporal adaptivity is supported to lower the computational time of the analysis. An advanced feature of the tool is that the surrounding environment of the circuits, for example package and heat sinks with fins can be modeled offering a holistic thermal analysis of a circuit and its environment.

Update:

The MTA Version 2.0 with nonlinear and cell level simulations has now been released.
