DSIT Cyber Security Policy Engagement Conference

Many thanks to Danny Dresner for organising the great DSIT Cyber Security Policy Engagement Conference last week. This conference brought together many delegates from across the University sector, government, and industry for a day focused on cyber security activity. All the feedback I’ve seen has been exceptionally positive.

    Printing on Campus

Changes to the printing service in 2024

During September and October 2024, we are working with Xerox to install more than 400 new Multi-Function Devices (combined printer, scanner and copier) across the University, replacing most of the existing devices on campus. In addition to improved equipment being available, the way that you send documents to the printers will change; we are using a new system called Papercut.

The printers in Kilburn have been replaced with the new devices (print room 2.13).

Please see the link here which explains how to install the new print queue software both for windows and MacOS

Digital Trust and Security Seminar Series: Dr. Ben Collier

    29 Jan | 14:00 - 16:00

In a world full of crises and after more than a decade of austerity, UK police forces are stepping up their game with a new strategy called influence policing. Using digital campaigns, it “nudges” behaviour and shapes the culture of particular groups, targeting people based on their internet activities. Due to its success, this method has now been incorporated into various areas of policing, including online child abuse, domestic violence, knife crime, and cybercrime.

Find out more, including the ethical and theoretical implications of this innovative strategy, with Dr. Ben Collier, Lecturer in Digital Methods, the University of Edinburgh.
