and CCSR short-courses given throughout the year. Courses include: ·
Advanced methods for social network analysis ·
Introductory and Advanced Structural Equation Modelling using Mplus ·
Creative Approaches to Qualitative Researching ·
Integrated Mixed-Methods Research Including QCA ·
Introduction to social network analysis using UCINET and Netdraw ·
A Hands-On Introduction to Agent-Based Modelling (new 2 day course with Bruce Edmonds) Also, as a result of a large number of requests it is now possible to book Structural Equation Modelling and Generalized Latent Variable Modelling with Mplus for just the introductory or advanced sections of the course. EPSRC Network for Mental Health Technologies -
Membership/Inaugural Workshop 16-17
Jun 14 The University was recently awarded 3 years funding from EPSRC to
establish a Network for Mental Health Technologies. The network
of researchers, clinicians, industry partners and patient groups will explore
the potential for technology to transform the management and treatment of
mental health conditions, identifying underpinning science and engineering
research challenges, and will work together to address them. The network will
aim to develop a range of research funding proposals in the area of
technology for mental health. 1. If you would like to be listed
as part of the network - please confirm by email to Ruth Norris. 2. Register to attend the Inaugural Plenary Workshop on June 16/17, which will
focus on understanding the clinical need and service delivery context to
co-develop scenarios for technology interventions This network is led by Professor Chris Taylor and is a Partnership
with the MindTech Health Technology Cooperative. The Clinical
Domains to be explored are led by clinicians across: ·
Developmental
Disorders; ·
Serious
Mental Illness; ·
Mood
and Affective Disorders; ·
Dementia The EPS themes to
be explored (led by EPS researchers): ·
Information
Management ·
Sensing
Systems ·
Data

Jun 14 12:30-13:25, Cordingley Lecture Theatre, Humanities Bridgeford Street building Interested in ESRC funding? There will be an open presentation to staff from the CEO of ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) Professor Paul Boyle. The presentation will be introduced by Professor Claire Annesley (Assistant Associate Dean – Research, Humanities) and followed with Q&As. The Anatomy of an EPSRC grant proposal 9 July 14 11-13:00*, 2.15, Kilburn building How is a successful EPSRC grant put together? Come along if there's anything you'd like to ask about how an EPSRC proposal is put together. The grant we'll use is called "What if...?" and the track record, case for support, summaries, etc., as well as reviews and rebuttals are to be found here. Read this material beforehand to get the most from the meeting. The aim of the meeting is to look at how the proposal has been put together and how each bit works - the science itself can be discussed, but isn't the main target. The show will have these elements: 1. EPSRC guidelines for grant writing and the submission process (Sarah Chatwin and Vinod Verghese) 2. The grant itself (Robert Stevens) 3. The review (Dirk Koch - attender at recent EPSRC mock panel) 4. Lots of questions (the audience) Email Sarah Chatwin if you wish to attend. All are welcome - all experience and contributions can be useful. * 2 hours has been put aside but it may be shorter/longer. Funding
