News from Head of SchoolCarole Goble wins Inaugural Jim Gray eScience AwardCongratulations to Carole Goble, who was awarded the Microsoft-sponsored
Jim Gray eScience Award, in recognition of the international profile of the
myGrid and myExperiment projects that support the authoring and community
sharing of scientific workflows. The award, which was established “to honour
the innovators whose work truly makes science easier for scientists”, was
presented at the 2008 Microsoft eScience Workshop in EPSRC ICT VisitEPSRC ICT team visited the School last week and were involved in a variety of open sessions and discussion groups. The visit went well and the team seemed impressed by the event. A copy of Liam Blackwell’s slides that outline EPSRC strategy and funding profiles in the ICT area can be found here. Local organisation was carried out by Jacqui Grant and John Gurd; thanks in particular to Jacqui for overseeing the many details associated with this multi-faceted event.
