News from Head of School

New University Finance System

The new University Finance System went live on 1st June. There have been numerous problem’s with its introduction and there has been huge dissatisfaction across the University with the changeover.  It is a tribute to John, Marie, Duressa and Claire in our Finance Office that most of you are probably unaware of all this.  Through their hard work and professionalism the new system has been introduced in CS with very few problems and, for most of us, the changeover has been virtually seamless.  It is easy to take excellence for greanted, but I’d like to record my thanks to the members of the Finance team for a job well done.

CS/Informatics

Staff in the School of Informatics have had an opportunity to consider whether they think their research best fits into CS or MBS and final transfer decisions have been made for most staff. A small number of cases will take a few more days to resolve, for example where staff may have missed the recent announcements about the future of the School of Informatics due to absence on holiday.  I am sure you are all anxious to know which staff will be joining us and I hope I will be able to let you have that information within the next few days. I am grateful for your patience with a process which has turned out to be more protracted than originally expected.

Head of School Disappears!

I will be on holiday from the end of this week, so this will probably be the last newsletter for several weeks.  Roger Hubbold will be deputising as HoS whilst im am away.  I hope that those of you taking a holiday during August will have an enjoyable break.
