News from Head of School

Graduation

The Graduation Party on Wednesday 5th July was blessed with wonderful summer weather, an excellent accompaniment to the strawberries and champagne.   Students, families, friends and staff who attended seemed to enjoy themselves enormously and it was a pleasure to have John Kilburn and his wife in attendance to present the Kilburn Medal and Kilburn/Wiliams prize. Many thanks to Kath who organised the fine detail of the event for the first time, and also to those of you who took the time to join the stage party to give our graduands a memorable send off.

Exam Boards

The Exam Boards for Years 1 & 2 were held on Monday 3rd July, and students were able to see their results on Tuesday, completing the annual assessment process.  I would like to place on record my thanks to all academic colleagues who have been involved in the process, helping the School to do a professional job under difficult circumstances – particularly to Graham and Pete.  Thanks also to Gill, Jennie, Elaine, Kath & Jean who spent many hours pulling it all together in time to meet deadlines for the Faculty and University Exam Board meetings.

School BBQ

The School is hosting a Summer BBQ in the courtyard of the Kilburn Building on Friday 14 July from 1400 onwards.  Please collect a ticket from ACSO if you are intending to come, so we have accurate numbers for catering purposes. To help the party go with a swing, please bring a bottle (or two) as drinks will not be supplied.  I hope that everyone who is able will take the opportunity to mix with staff and students from parts of the School that other events do not reach.
